DFR’s mission supports that of the department by protecting Oregonians’ access to fair products and services through education, regulation, and consumer assistance. The division is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of financial institutions, the availability and affordability of financial products, and the fair treatment of consumers. However, regular scheduled office hours are also required.Here’s what you will do:As an Enforcement Investigator, you will investigate allegations of violation of diverse issues including but not limited to violations of the Oregon Insurance Code, financial fraud, dishonest practices, employee theft, misrepresentation, and unfair trade practices. Frequently, alleged violations are found to be multi-jurisdictional which requires this position to lead or participate in investigations with other law enforcement and regulatory agencies (city, county, state, and federal), and the Department of Justice in order to conclude the investigation.For a complete listing of the duties and responsibilities of this position, please review the position description.Here’s what you need to qualify:Minimum Qualifications:Four years of recent (within last ten years) full-time investigative experience which included:Conducting fact findingCollecting and preserving evidence according to the rules of evidenceExamining recordsLocating and interviewing witnesses to verify or disprove claims of suspected law violationsWriting investigation reports sufficient for use at administrative hearings or in courtExamples of qualifying investigation experience are in areas such as law enforcement investigation, insurance investigation, investigative trial support, or financial fraud investigation.College-level courses in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Law, Accounting, or Auditing may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to one year of the required experience.Requested Skills:Excellent writing skills, including experience preparing legal reportsAbility to work independently and also work at the direction of another person.Strong communication skills, including experience dealing with individuals of varied education and training in multiple settings and under stressful conditionsExperience concurrently investigating a variety of matters, which may be at different stages of completion, bringing each to a timely and appropriate conclusionPreference may be given to applicants with at least two years of experience involving insurance, financial, or white-collar crime investigation, and/or analyzing financial records and transactionsApplication information:A resume and cover letter are required for this job posting.
